24-Hour Abuse/Sexual Assault Support Line
Envision Counselling and Support Centre recognized the need for safe and confidential after-hour services and implemented the 24-Hour Abuse/Sexual Assault Support Line in 1995. The Support Line was created to provide after-hour and weekend support for those who are, or who know of someone experiencing abuse. The line is funded through the Estevan and Weyburn United Way and relies on the dedication of volunteers. Volunteers are able to provide appropriate resources and referrals to a caller based on the information they provide. The toll-free number is 1-800-214-7083. All calls are confidential and Envision does not subscribe to call display.
Callouts to Police Station/Hospital
Volunteers and/or Envision employees are able to accompany a victim and their children to the police station or hospital in either Weyburn or Estevan in situations where there has been abuse or assault. In these instances, Envision can provide assistance, options and support to the victim. Talking with an Envision counsellor or volunteer can help an individual to cope and resolve their current situation. Crisis intervention aims to assist the individual emotionally and physically through talking about what happened and the feelings about what happened while also developing ways to cope and solve problems.
Assisting a Woman who Needs Safe Shelter
Envision may be able to arrange safe shelter for a woman and her children at a transition house located in the province. Staff members are available to transport a woman and her children to a transition house if no other transportation can be found. For safety and confidentiality, volunteers and counsellors will only meet a victim at the hospital or police station after office hours.
If anyone requires assistance, please call Envision’s 24-Hour Abuse/Sexual Assault Support Line.
