What Can Group Offer You?

The objectives of any group facilitated at Envision are to enhance self-worth and self-confidence through the support of others.
Members begin to gain insight and understanding of the effects of violence has had and/or continues to have on their lives.
The group process provides a safe environment where members can develop trust in order to invite feedback and ongoing support during self exploration.
Women’s support groups at Envision generally provide basic educational information along with the opportunity to discuss experiences and situations in a safe, confidential environment. Although counselling is very beneficial and encouraged, having support form other women along with offering your own support to others can be very empowering.
You may be able to relate to the other women and their circumstances, in turn making you feel more connected and less isolated with your issues.
For many women, the opportunity to relate to others facing similar issues isn’t available through friends and family and this can become their support system along with establishing some long lasting relationships.
Who can attend Group?
Group is open to all women 18 years of age and over who have particular personal experience with the group focus (Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse, Women’s Empowerment, Dealing with Anger) and recognize the need to examine how it has affected their lives. All members will be required to take part in a pre-screening interview with the group facilitator(s).
Group members are invited to attend on a voluntary basis and must not have any suicidal, homicidal or psychotic tendencies. In this case, further referrals can be made.
It is also recommended that family members do not attend the same group together as this may hamper the group dynamics and issues may arise.
For further questions and an interview, please call either office and speak to the counsellor (Jody in Estevan or Christa in Weyburn).
