Self -Esteem Women's Group
Envision Counselling and Support Centre offers a Self Esteem Women's Group. This is an empowerment group for women who have experienced violence or abuse at some time in their life, to come together to enhance their self-esteem, self worth, and self confidence.
Participants increase their self-worth and self-esteem by exploring and recognizing their personal strengths and by relating to others who have been or are in similar situations. The group members are encouraged to explore with one another ways in which they can develop strategies to increase their own self-awareness and self-worth, in an effort to empower themselves in their everyday life. Groups members are also encouraged to do exercises and then attempt to practice the concepts and strategies they have learned in the group, outside in their daily life.
Women interested in attending the group need to pre-register with Envision. All group members need to make a commitment to attend all sessions. The group is a "closed group", which means no new members are admitted once the sessions have begun. Members will be asked to actively participate, as the more active a person is in the group, the more beneficial it will be. This group is open to women over the age of 18 and there is no cost to participate.
