Volunteer Program
Volunteering can have a positive impact on your community and it can have many benefits for you as well. Volunteering can help you develop new skills, take charge of new responsibilities and gain great references, contacts and job experience. Volunteering with Envision will utilize some of your personal strengths and abilities, which will in turn help others in need.
24-Hour Abuse/Sexual Assault Support Line
Envision Counselling and Support Centre recognized the need for confidential after-hour services and implemented a 24-Hour Abuse/Sexual Assault Support Line in 1995. The Support Line was created to provide after-hour and weekend support for those who are, or know of someone experiencing abuse.
Envision’s Crisis Intervention Program relies on dedicated volunteers who are responsible for operating the line. The Support Line receives calls from all over Saskatchewan and volunteers provide resource and referral information. The toll-free line also allows rural persons access to information and referrals. The line is funded by the Estevan and Weyburn United Way. Volunteers receive thorough training before taking line calls and training sessions are held twice yearly. Thirty volunteers are needed to support the program at any one time. The volunteer program is overseen by the Volunteer Coordinator who is an employee of Envision.
